The St Martin Island Community welcomes you to share this island in Otago Harbour.
Kamau Taurua was first used by the tangata whenua as a place to set nets, then the island was Otago's quarantine station from 1863-1914.
Now, and for over 50 years, the St Martin Island Community have been guardians of the Island. Its members promote a rich and practical spiritual dimension to life there and in the wider community.
The island is a public recreation reserve and visitors are welcome. It is managed jointly by the Community and the Department of Conservation.
Open weekends are held monthly usually on the last Saturday of the month
